The tools behind the method, ready to use.

Every assessment, scorecard, and framework in The Helikon Method exists as a working tool: an editable file you download, or an interactive assessment you take on the site. Buy the one that fits the problem in front of you, or the bundle that fits the phase you are working on.

Most teams managing university-industry R&D partnerships are not short on effort. They are short on instrumentation. Partner selection happens by reputation and chance. Negotiations reopen the same disputed clauses every time. Performance gets reported from spreadsheets that were never built for it. Our primary research across five major U.S. public research universities (Flowers and Roadman, 2024) found exactly this pattern: strong intent, weak infrastructure.

These tools are that infrastructure. Each one is built around a specific decision in the Helikon Method, the four-phase framework that organizes partnership work into Match, Unite, Steward, and Evaluate (MUSE). The basic versions of many of these instruments are included with the book. The versions sold here are the full working tools, the same ones we configure inside our consulting engagements, but you do not need a consultant to use them.

Start with a single tool

Our most essential instruments, each tied to an area where partnerships routinely struggle.

Digital Maturity Assessment

Interactive
$497All

Turn 'we should modernize' into a board-ready investment sequence. It rates 32 practices across eight weighted domains, scores you 0 to 100 against five maturity levels, and ranks where to invest first by the domains where each dollar moves your score the most.

Collaboration Readiness Assessment

Interactive
$97All

For the TTO director or research office weighing a bigger partnership push: a clear read on how ready you actually are across governance, culture, processes, resources, track record, and network, plus the few gaps to close before you commit.

Organizational Maturity Assessment

Interactive
$197Match

For the research office standing up or rebuilding a partnership program: it shows how mature your operating model is across the five dimensions that decide whether partnerships run at scale, and gives you a next-90-days plan for the gaps that matter most.

Or bundle the whole phase

Bundled by Helikon Method phase.

Each bundle costs less than buying its tools individually, and gives you every instrument that phase calls for.

Bundles are rolling out in batches. Check back shortly, or browse the individual tools above.

Tool catalog questions

FAQ

What is the difference between the free tools and these?

Several of the assessments here have a free version, either appended to the book or offered as a free version on this site. The free version is a directional snapshot: it diagnoses you and points you somewhere. The paid version is the full working instrument, with weighted scoring, a complete prioritized roadmap, the editable file, and, for the interactive assessments, saved results you can re-take and track over time. The free version tells you where to focus. The paid version tells you what to do.

What format are the tools?

Two kinds. Most tools are editable Excel or Word files you download and configure for your own data. The three flagship assessments — Collaboration Readiness, Organizational Maturity, and Digital Maturity — are interactive: you take them on the site, get scored results with a roadmap, and can return to re-take them and track progress.

Can I buy a single tool that is not listed here?

This page carries the flagship instruments and the phased bundles. The full catalog of individual tools from the book is rolling out in stages (34 available now). If you need a specific tool from the book, use the contact form and we will point you to it.

Do you offer a discount for universities?

Tool and bundle pricing is the same for every buyer. Pricing differs in consulting engagements, which are priced separately for university and corporate clients. See our consulting page.

What if I want help using the tools?

The tools are built to be self-serve, with detailed instructions in each. If you would rather have them configured and run alongside your team, every Helikon Labs workshop and consulting sprint delivers the relevant tools, populated for your institution, as part of the engagement. See our consulting page.

Can I get a refund?

Downloadable tools are non-refundable once downloaded, and interactive assessments are non-refundable once started; if you have not downloaded or started anything, contact us within 14 days for a full refund. Full terms are on our terms page.

Not sure which tool fits?

Three free assessments will tell you where to start. The Collaboration Readiness Assessment scores your collaboration across six dimensions, the Organizational Maturity Assessment baselines your program across five, and the Digital Maturity Assessment scores your operation across eight. All are free, take 20–25 minutes, and end with a specific recommendation and a clear view of the paid assessment that goes deeper.
