DMCA and copyright policy

Helikon Labs hosts content contributed by users (profiles, uploaded documents, project materials, and messages) and indexes scholarly metadata from third-party public sources. We respect the intellectual property rights of others and comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. §512. If you believe material on the platform infringes your copyright, you can request its removal using the process on this page. We respond to valid notices promptly, remove or disable access to the identified material, and notify the user who posted it.

To be effective under 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3), your notice must be a written communication that includes substantially all of the following:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or, if a single notice covers multiple works, a representative list of those works).
3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it (for example, the URL of the page where the material appears).
4. Information reasonably sufficient for us to contact you, such as your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Please note that under 17 U.S.C. §512(f), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages.

Submit a DMCA notice

If material you posted was removed and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may file a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. §512(g). Your counter-notice must include:

• your physical or electronic signature;
• identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal;
• a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification;
• your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your judicial district (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district in which Helikon Labs may be found) and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice or their agent.

Submit counter-notices through the same contact-form category as notices. If we receive a valid counter-notice, we forward it to the original complainant. Unless the complainant notifies us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the alleged infringement, we may restore the removed material within 10 to 14 business days.

We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers. We track valid infringement notices against the accounts responsible for the identified material, and an account that accumulates repeated substantiated notices will be terminated. We may also suspend or terminate an account after a single notice where the infringement is flagrant.

Publication records displayed on the platform, including abstracts, are indexed from OpenAlex, an open catalog of scholarly works whose metadata is released under CC0 licensing. This metadata is part of the public scientific record. If you are a publisher or rights holder and believe specific indexed content (for example, an abstract) exceeds what the metadata license permits, you may request its removal through the notice process on this page and we will review it.
